4th of July Treats

Need to make some super yummy 4th of July treats? Well, here is a perfect and easy red, white, and blue rice krispie treat!

Recipe for Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats (from Big Mama):
1 c peanut butter
1 c sugar
1 c karo syrup
6 c rice cereal

(I made a 1/2 batch tonight since we only needed a couple bars)

-Put peanut butter, sugar, and syrup in pot over low heat until it is all melted and smooth.
-Remove from heat and stir in the cereal.
-Pour the mixture into a greased pan and smooth out.
-Let cool and then cut into bars (or use cookie cutters to cut out shapes!)

How easy is that?!

So, in honor of the 4th of July, we decided to decorate the treats tonight. John was our great little helper and did a wonderful job decorating!! (We were so impressed because we showed him how to make one treat and he did the rest all on his own! He is getting to be such a big boy!)

First I melted milk-chocolate chocolate chips in the microwave. I used a little less then half a bag and it was just enough.

Then John dipped the treat into the chocolate...

...then dipped into a bowl of red, white, and blue sprinkles...

and voila, a 4th of July treat!

please excuse the messy house!

Let the chocolate cool...

...and serve.

These seriously are super yummy and sooooo easy! Enjoy!
