DIY Bookplate - free download

As you are well aware, we are closing in quickly to Christmas. I have an extremely short list of presents left to buy. I will actually have to go to the stores for these last handful rather than purchasing online in my pjs. Online shopping has been wonderful this year!

One of the gifts the boys will get each Christmas and birthday without fail are books. So, I again made bookplate stickers to add to the books. I love knowing who gave each book to the boys and I think it will be really sweet when they are older. I have a feeling that there will be two things I save until I have grandkids- books (that aren't torn to pieces!) and their wooden train set. So I think it will be fun to look back at the books in 30 years with the stickers on them!

Here are a couple I have made for this year. Feel free to save these and print onto Avery name stickers to use in your own library. Enjoy!

How To - Scratch Off Tickets

Like I said in my previous post, making scratch off tickets are really easy to do! Here is how I made the gender reveal tickets for the Stache or Sash party.

1. Print out your cards. (duh!) Here are the cards I used to make the tickets. I am also adding in the 'winning-girl' ticket, but I didn't actually use it since we are having a boy! Yes, they are sideways because that is how I had to print them to fit onto the business card template I used.

2. Use clear tape to tape over the space what is going to be the scratch off area. You can kind of see in this picture that I have the images all covered with tape.

3. Lay out all your cards so you can paint them. To make the paint, mix two parts paint with one part dish soap. You don't really need a lot of this if you are using a dark color. I used a plastic spoon and basically did 2 tablespoon of paint and 1 tablespoon of soap.

4. Paint over the images you want to be under the scratch off. The blue paint took one coat. The pink paint, however, took about 5 coats! So, if I had to do this again, I would always pick a dark paint color.

Let dry and DONE! See, super easy!

Here is what they looked like when they were done.

They scratch off really easily. Not like the real lotto tickets, but good enough for my purposes!

Here was the winning ticket! :)

Playroom Freebies

We have been working on the boys' playroom over the past week or so. This room is quite large (walls are 155 inches long!) so the boys love playing in there. The room isn't totally finished yet, so I am going to wait to share the whole thing. But, in the meantime I wanted to share a freebie that I made for the room.

You have probably seen these types of sign around Pinterest or Etsy. I just whipped these up using Photoshop, printed them on regular paper, and framed them with extra frames we had from the old house. Very easy and cheap! So, I wanted to share them with you- feel free to save and use (but please don't sell them!).

Here is what they look like in the playroom:

I can't wait for the room to be finished and share the rest of it with you!

Printable Bookplates - FREEBIES!

If your kiddos are anything like mine, they LOVE books. We have tons of books at our house and I love watching the boys picking up books and flipping through them. It is just so dang cute! Ever since the Build-A-Library baby shower that I co-hosted for my sister, I have been adding bookplates to the boys' books. The most recent favorite that I created are these cute grey ones.

I love being able to document who gave the boys that particular book! Slowly but surely, our library is being labeled either with these bookplates, or generic 'Brown Library' bookplates.

I have also started including a set of bookplates when I give books as gifts. I add one in the book with the boys' names written in, and then a set of blank ones for the recipient to add to other books in their collection.

So, because I love all my sweet readers, I am sharing some free bookplates for your personal use! You can hand write the names or use an editing program to add text to these. I have a blue, pink, and orange version that you are welcome to save and use for yourself or for gifts. (PLEASE, do not sell these bookplates! But you are welcome to make as many as you like and give away as many as you like!)

I print these onto Avery name tags, but you can resize these to fit the sticker labels of your choice. I like these Avery name badges because you can seperate them individually after printing rather than having a full sheet of stickers. They are a little more expensive than others, though!
